Who are we?
Hi! We are Alicia and Adam and we are visiting Nepal from the UK. In Sept 2017 we left our jobs back home and we began to travel the world. Back home I, Alicia, was a secondary school Geography teacher whilst Adam worked in marketing. We arrived at KRMEF on 17th Oct 2017, and unfortunately we were only able to stay for 1 week, but what a joy this week has been!
What have we done whilst we are here?
Arriving at the foundation we were apprehensive about how we would be able to help – neither of us had worked on a farm before! But within a few hours we learnt there were a number of ways in which we could actually help, and not just by getting our hands dirty on the farm. Adam’s background in marketing was of big interest to Krishna, as the foundation strives to increase and improve their social media presence and begin to promote the newly renovated eco guesthouse. We spent some time improving the format of the bi-annual newsletter and improving distribution channels as well as creating a check in post in the garden, to encourage people to share their stories and photos of their time here at KRMEF!
Other volunteers have been working on the new ‘conference room’ and have created a beautiful landscape mural on the wall, some have also been painting the pond fence and generally giving the place a face lift – the foundation is such a hub of creativity and is such a tranquil place to stay.
What have we learnt whilst at the foundation?
The KRMEF does so many amazing things and before we arrived I am not sure we truly understood this. As part of the foundation there is a school, kindergarten, jewellery workshop, organic café, health clinic and now accommodation. It takes so much work from so many people to ensure a smooth running of all these things – and I don’t think we will ever understand how Krishna and his team ensures that the foundation helps not only local people, but also the environment.http://www.krmef.org/18585-2/
